The publication is reachable through the inboxes below. Each one is read by a person on the masthead. We do not use form-routing; the addresses are the addresses.

Editorial pitches

For pitches, contributed pieces, and editorial correspondence. A useful pitch is two paragraphs: what the piece will argue, what specific access the contributor has, and why now. Response window: ten business days for viable pitches.

Tip line

tips at blackboxnotes dot com

For tips on opaque systems in production — financial, medical, hiring, criminal-justice, internal-deployment. We do not promise confidentiality without reading what you have, but we read everything. For sensitive material, send a one-paragraph framing note first and we will respond with a secure channel for documents.

Corrections

Errors of fact in a published piece. Quote the offending sentence, link to the source you believe contradicts it, and provide a contact we can verify you at. Response window: five business days.

Press & events

Press inquiries about the publication itself, panel invitations, and fact-check requests on our coverage of your organisation. Response window: three to five business days.

Pitch guidelines

We commission pieces that meet four criteria:

  1. Beat fit. Opacity, auditability, interpretability, or the regulatory machinery around them. We do not commission product reviews, fundraising stories, or founder profiles.
  2. Specific access. What does the contributor have hands-on, primary-document, or named-source access to that the rest of the press does not?
  3. Verifiable specifics. Every assertion in the eventual draft must rest on a primary source we can link to or a contributor's documented verification.
  4. Editorial timing. Why this piece now, against the publication's standing departments.

Pitches that meet none of the above get a polite no. Pitches that meet two or three get a conversation. Pitches that meet all four get commissioned within ten business days.

What we will not commission

Press releases dressed as analysis. Case studies sourced from a vendor's marketing. Vendor-favourable explainers of an opaque system. Pieces by writers whose identity we cannot verify. Pieces whose argument materially overlaps with the contributor's paid consulting work without an explicit conflicts declaration in the byline.

Send-to-us-via-form

We do not run a contact form. The submit button on the form below opens your default mail client with the editorial address prefilled. We prefer plain email because we read all of it; form submissions tend to disappear into queues.

For postal correspondence, the publication's publisher receives mail at: Lumenwhite Media Holdings Pte Ltd, [TKTK: Singapore registered office]. Editorial does not maintain a postal address.
